BinPilot Terms of Use

Effective: 2026-08-30 · Last updated: 2026-08-30

1. Who these terms are with

BinPilot is provided by UNIGATA INC., based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. By installing or using BinPilot you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

2. What BinPilot does

BinPilot shows you your municipality's waste collection schedule, reminds you before collection day, and lets a household share the duty of taking the bins out.

BinPilot is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any municipality, waste authority, or collection provider. We read schedules that those organisations publish; we do not set them, and we do not collect your waste.

3. Your account

You need an account for household features and for a subscription. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details private and for what happens under your account.

You must give accurate information when you sign up, and you must be legally able to enter a contract in your jurisdiction. You may delete your account at any time from inside the app — see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that destroys.

4. ⚠ Schedule accuracy — read this one

BinPilot's schedules come from third parties: your municipality, its waste authority, or its schedule provider. We pass on what they publish.

We do not guarantee that any date shown is correct. Municipalities change collection days, move them for holidays, alter routes, and sometimes publish late or incorrectly. Providers change or withdraw their data feeds without notice. When that happens, BinPilot may show a date that is wrong or may show nothing at all.

BinPilot is designed to fail honestly — it will tell you when it cannot reach a source, when its information may be stale, and when a schedule is not published beyond a certain date, rather than guess. But it is a convenience, not an authority.

Your municipality's own published calendar is always the authoritative source. If it matters, check theirs. We are not responsible for a missed collection, a fine, a penalty, or any other consequence of relying on a date shown in BinPilot.

5. Subscriptions and payment

BinPilot offers a free tier and BinPilot Premium, sold monthly, annually, or once as a permanent licence.

If your subscription lapses, paid features stop but nothing is deleted. Your household, roster and duty history are kept until you delete your account or the household's administrator deletes it, so resuming picks up exactly where you left off. (Proof photos are the one exception, and they expire on their own short cycle regardless of your plan — see §7.)

6. Households, administrators and members

A household has one administrator — the person who created it.

If you invite someone to your household, you confirm you have their agreement to do so.

7. Photos you take

Members may photograph a completed duty as proof.

8. Acceptable use

Do not: use BinPilot unlawfully; try to break, overload, or gain unauthorised access to it or to the third-party services it reads; scrape or resell its data; reverse engineer it except where law permits; or impersonate anyone.

BinPilot reads municipal and provider schedule services on your behalf, as an ordinary resident would. Do not use it in a way that would burden those services — they are public infrastructure and losing access to them harms every user.

9. Availability, changes, and ending

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of BinPilot, including support for a particular municipality if its provider withdraws or breaks a data source. We will give reasonable notice where we can.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms. You may stop using BinPilot at any time by deleting your account.

10. ⚠ Disclaimers and limitation of liability

BinPilot is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, UNIGATA INC. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for any missed collection, fine, penalty, property damage or lost time arising from your use of BinPilot — including where a schedule we showed you was wrong.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or CAD $50.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario. Nothing here prevents you from bringing a claim in a small-claims court that would otherwise have jurisdiction.

⚠ Note for review: Ontario is named because it is where the business operates. It is a deliberate choice, not an automatic consequence of the company's registration — confirm it with counsel, together with the registration status itself.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use BinPilot after that means you accept them.
